In case you missed it, Reese and her second husband, Jim Toth, filed for divorce in April after 11 years of marriage.
The couple announced their separation in a joint statement on social media, something she didn't have the chance to do with Ryan.
"When I was divorced before, the tabloid media got to tell people how I was feeling or how I was processing, and it felt very out of control," Reese told Harper's Bazaar.
Now that there's social media, Reese says she feels like she can share her own story instead of tabloids.
"To be able to talk to people directly about what’s going on in my life and just share it in the way that I share great professional experiences or personal experiences, it feels much more authentic to be able to say things in my own voice and not let somebody else control what’s happening," she explained.
And while she admits she can't control "speculation," she does appreciate sharing as much as she can.
"All I can do is be my most honest, forthright self and be vulnerable," she said. "It's a vulnerable time for me."
Reese later added, "It feels good [to share]. I think about how many other people are going through this experience. I don’t feel isolated at all. I feel very connected."
As for how else she's coping with the split, Reese says she is taking time to slow down "just a little bit" and to "get quiet."
