A whirlwind romance between Hollywood titan Bill Murray and singer Kelis has ended after two months. A source told The Sun it was 44-year-old Kelis who called it quits with Murray, 72.
But the age-gap duo, who were first linked in June, did not have an almighty row — and plan to maintain a friendship. “Kelis and Bill were — and still are — very fond of each other but things just ran their course,” a source said. “They both have busy schedules and after a whirlwind romance decided to go their separate ways. “They hope to remain friends but also plan to get on with their lives.”
The unlikely couple’s romance first made headlines in June, after the Charlie’s Angels actor secretly joined the mum-of-three Milkshake singer on her summer festivals tour.
Father-of-six Murray was snapped backstage watching Kelis’ set at Mighty Hoopla festival in Brockwell Park, South London.
Sources said the pair had been staying at the same hotel and being getting close after a chance meeting.
As well as a number of shared interests, the pair bonded following the death of Kelis’ second husband, Mike Mora, in March 2022.
Murray’s estranged wife Jennifer Butler passed away a year prior, in 2021.
A source had previously said: “Whatever brought them together, they are both single and having fun despite the fairly big age gap.”
Kelis previously addressed the dating rumours in the comments section on an Instagram post in mid-June.
After uploading a photo of herself in a bikini, the post was littered with comments from fans questioning the romance reports.
“Bill got u out here riding his wave lol,” one user cheekily quipped, suggesting Kelis was leveraging off Murray’s fame.
Kelis replied, “Lol yeah maybe for now everyone’s dumb and will believe anything.”
She added, “But the best part is we are both blessed, rich and happy. So who’s really laughing, now that’s funny.”
