Patrick Mahomes' 22-year-old brother is a frequent presence at Chiefs games
Police are investigating allegations against the younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The 22-year-old Jackson Mahomes is accused of assaulting a waiter and the owner of a restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas, in late February, according to a report from the Kansas City Star.
Jackson allegedly shoved a 19-year-old male waiter, who reportedly requested to not be named. This occurred before he reportedly forcibly kissed Aspen Vaughn, the 40-year-old female owner of Aspen's Restaurant and Lounge.
Police have reportedly been evaluating the establishment’s surveillance video recordings from last Saturday night as part of their investigation. One video, which shows the incident between Mahomes and Vaughn, has made its way to social media.
Mahomes reportedly arrived at the restaurant at around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 with five friends. They reportedly went into an office in the basement and barred entry to the waiter, who was attempting to grab his water bottle.
The group eventually moved to a VIP room upstairs. Vaughn reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana drifting from that room and asked the party to stop smoking. Mahomes later asked to speak with Vaughn privately about allegedly shoving the waiter. He joined her in the basement office and that's when he allegedly grabbed her neck. According to The Star, he did so with enough force that it left a faint bruise. Mahomes is 6-foot-6.
“He forcibly kissed me out of nowhere,” Vaughn told The Star, “and I’m telling him, pushing him off saying, ‘What are you doing?’ And then he proceeded to do it two more times where the last time I was pushing him off and I can see on the cameras that somebody was outside the office door and I was yelling for them to come help because he’s big and massive.”
Authorities told The Star that releasing a report of the incident or any additional information would be "inappropriate." An attorney for Jackson Mahomes, Brandan Davies, provided a statement to the newspaper, claiming that “Jackson has done nothing wrong."
“Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson’s accuser including the statements of several witnesses. We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter,” Davies added.
